Craig Anstey - Mainstream (Mr. Hipster)
Craig Anstey - Mainstream (Mr. Hipster)
Mr. Hipster, you're just too cool for school
You say my taste is too conventional
My style is mundane and predictable
Mr. Hipster you're better than us
You look down your nose at pop culture
'cause mainstream is for idiots
Mr. Hipster, how'd you get so smart?
How do always know when lyrics are contrived
or when they are art?
Straight from the heart
That little band from Birmingham
You're right, I've never heard of them
You said that they have this fresh new sound
Well I hope it stays in the underground
Mr. Hipster, where'd ya get that hat?
I thought they were for old men
What if ya put and end to that?
Mr. Hipster, what if you start a trend?
I guess you'd have to find something new
But that's your thing, that's what you do
Well I watched that cult film, that you praised
You were right, I've never heard of it
To think I could of spent that hour and half
Stuffing my eyes with shards of glass
Stand out, that you do
You look like a total douche bag
But my opinion, it doesn't matter
I'm just a mindless conformist
Impressionable, gullible
Monkey see, monkey do
Another vapid drone
Without a clue
Why can't I be like you?
Mr. Hipster, is that an original song?
I dont quite understand the lyrics
But you said I wouldn't get it
Mr. Hipster, where is the chorus?
Thats right, repetition is cheap, and rhyming is trite
